INFORMATION ABOUT AWARDS

On occasion of the 31st Vis Moot the following prizes will be awarded

Pieter Sanders Award – Best Memorandum for Claimant
It will be awarded to the team prevailing in the claimant memoranda competition.

Werner Melis Award – Best Memorandum for Respondent
It will be awarded to the team prevailing in the respondent memoranda competition. 

Eric E. Bergsten Award – Team Orals
This award will be made to the winning team in the final round of the oral hearings.

Martin Domke Award – Best Individual Oralist
This award for the general rounds will be won by the individual advocate with the highest average score during these rounds. To be eligible for this award a participant must have argued at least once for the claimant and once for the respondent.

Michael L. Sher Award for the Spirit of the Willem C. Vis Moot
It can be awarded to a team or an individual student for its dedication and commitment to the Spirit of the Vis Moot. The Spirit of the Vis Moot has many facets. For example, unity in difficult situations, creativity and out of the box thinking or to overcome unexpected burdens or the fostering of relations across frontiers and traditional divides. The winner of the Michael L. Sher Award will be determined at the discretion of the Vis Moot Directors upon suggestion of teams and arbitrators. A team or individual cannot suggest itself to the Directors of the Moot.
