Lucy Reed is an independent arbitrator based in New York, specializing in investor-State and complex international commercial disputes. Reflecting some 45 years of experience, she is recognized in Tier One of Chambers & Partners Most In Demand Arbitrators – Global Wide 2025.
Lucy currently is the President of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre Court. She previously was a partner in the international law firm Freshfields, where she led the global international arbitration group, and then took on the roles of Professor and Director of the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore. In other past arbitration positions, she served as an arbitrator on the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission, a Co-Director of the Claims Resolution Tribunal for Dormant Accounts in Switzerland (a Holocaust tribunal), and the U.S. Government Agent to the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal. Â Lucy has served as President of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and the American Society of International Law.
Lucy was educated at Brown University and the University of Chicago Law School.Â
